Potential Revenue Measure

RMC2

About the Committee

Hanford's City Council has approved the formation of a Revenue Measure Committee (RMC). Members of the RMC will serve in an advisory capacity and provide input and recommendations to the City Council regarding a possible revenue measure to be placed on the November 2024 ballot.

From February through April, the Revenue Measure Committee (RMC) was educated on the primary functions and needs of departments/divisions funded by the City's General Fund: Police, Fire, Streets, Parks and Community Services and Code Enforcement.

On April 17, the RMC unanimously adopted a draft 10-year Expenditure Plan, which outlines their recommendations for how the potential revenues should be spent. The plan shows more then 90% of funding going to Police, Fire and Streets.

On April 24, the majority of the committee voted to recommend to City Council that there is a need for a revenue measure in order to meet the community’s growing needs.
