The Junior Police Academy (JPA), was originated by the National Association of Veteran Police Officers (NAVPO), and is currently being taught in over 2,000 locations throughout the United States. Hanford is proud to say that Hanford High is the first school district to offer this course in the Central Valley.
All parties involved, the students, school district and the Police Department have received benefit from this program. The students have gained valuable experience and training in law enforcement. They have gained knowledge of how and why police do what they do and learned about our laws and our system of courts. They are exposed to the forensic science and technology used in modern law enforcement. The partnership between the school district and Police Department has been strengthened under this program.
